This coming Friday will be a big day for us. We are taking a mama and Lila trip to Arizona, which will be Lila’s first time flying and daddy is staying home with Thomas (remember, an über mama’s boy). I do feel slightly bad about leaving Thomas – it’s a little tricky to explain to an 18 month old, “your two favorite people are leaving you for 4 days, have fun buddy.” But, it will also be a nice break and I’m excited to spend quality one on one time with Lila. She too is a mama’s girl so she’ll be loving our time alone. Lately, she’s been in a “not herself” stage - the girl who is up for anything and loves everything, no longer wants to leave my side. She cries at school, gymnastics, when I get in the shower… “I’m going to miss you too much.” It’s a bit strange and I’m still trying to figure this one out. Our trip couldn’t have come at a better time and it’s supposed to be in the 80′s, ah.
The absolute best part of our girls trip…we’re going to see my bestie, Stacie! It has been waaay to long and I miss her so. I miss our days of shopping together & sipping wine while we talk all night – it will be just like the old days (but with a little less wine). She also has two little boys around Lila’s age, so fun will be had by all. I can’t wait to watch the kids play together, it will be the sweetest. From the wise Borat, “so excite!”
Going on a trip with a little one is cause for some major preparation. New cloths (because it’s summerish there), many things to keep busy for the long plane ride – snacks, stickers, paper, movies on the iPad, coloring books and a fresh set of markers. Hey mama’s out there, if you’ve taken a solo-trip with your toddler, I’d love to hear any suggestions you might have…feel free to leave a comment.
